This one always gets me, great production and such a great vocal over the top.

I remember Robbie Vincent giving this lots of plays back in the 80s on his radio shows, just look at the cast list here, it has to be 'soul heaven' both musically and vocally.

One of my favourite female vocalists, a wonderfully sensual and atmospheric track.

Wow, so many great tunes to check out here fellows! Great idea Phil on the thread, I'll have to get my thinking cap on.
Off the top of my head, one of my all time favourite ballads has to be this, Sam Dees 'After All' from 1989.
It just drips soul, passion and pain with wonderful lush orchestration and production, wonderful sax playing and Sam's pouring out his heart and feelings to his 'ex'!
Always loved this one too, although every time I hear it now I keep expecting to hear Richard Searling's voice kick in as it's his theme tune to every hour 2 of his show!
Haha yes, very true. In fact, I also just love listening to the instrumental version of this sometimes, a lovely experience in its own right!

Marc Sadane's - one way love affair is a terrific mellow Groove and in my opinion it contains one of the greatest bridges of all time! I cannot hear this song without getting goosebumps!
This is a fantastic track and I've always loved it too! Many of my favourite ballads also have that lovely lush orchestration in the background, it just seems to create that mellow, romantic feel I suppose. It's such a pity we hardly ever hear these kinds of new ballads nowadays.

You cant post one without the other!!
Great addition Jack, thanks! Now we have both the passion and the pain.

One of my favourite female vocalists, a wonderfully sensual and atmospheric track.
My favourite cut from her 86 LP followed closely by "Ain't you had enough love" and the 12" version is essential!

Lovely Leon Sylvers III production on this 1984 ballad from Krystol's debut album.

This track has a beautiful, tender and dreamy quality about it, with a bit of an exotic Japanese touch

This is another old favourite of mine from the early 80s, very sensual both in sound and voice!

I'm sneaking in a southern soul artist here This wonderful ballad is from her 2007 album, 'Ladies Get Your Own'.
There's lots more of this kind of stuff in the southern soul thread here (blatant advertising I know, I apologise)
