Had never heard this cover of Lowdown by Hindsight (1987)... this just proves (again) that there's a thin line between aor/westcoast music and Soul.....

Recent discovery for me, really dig this one ! The Vinyl LP is very cheap, but beware of the 2on1 CD sold on ebay, it's a counterfeit....

Discovered this very recently, alas the LP is invisible.... Great CCM track You nincompoop Thierry! You knew the track all along on your "ID?" post of yours recently in the revival section! I guess you had forgotten you had posted this two weeks earlier lol I don't get this yacht rock terminology. To me this music is blue eyed soul / west coast soul. White man soul. They are rock musicians who have moments of soulful inspiration. On the opposite end of the spectrum, they are in many ways like the soul artists who fill their albums with shite fodder and only have a few standouts! So, to the rock fan, the soul killers on these albums are the fodder if you get what I mean. We have house and garage music. Whatever next, Bungalow music? Caravan music? Shed music lol?

I regret naming the thread as Yacht Rock now. It stuck with me after we saw a ‘yacht rock review’ in San Francisco on our honeymoon but it’s provoked a bit of hoo ha since I posted it up. It does actually go by the name AOR in this house, but who really cares what it’s called, it’s wasted energy, just enjoy the music..

Who cares about the name ? It's tricky... And AOR means "Adult Orientated Rock" too (unless I'm mistaken)... Nowadays I call it simply westcoast music but it's not accurate either as some artists are from other parts of the States (or even Europe, like Sweden for instance) What about "Blue Eyed Soul ?
