What soul gigs do you attend these days, or are you happier listening at home?
We stay fairly local with Ease Your Mind in Banbury on a regular basis and Soul’d in Oxford. We attend a lot of live music gigs but not too many soul do’s regularly but we’re trying to get out a bit more often so, where do you go?

Strictly armchair for this old duffer. I still go to the pub with some of my old soul chums but that is about my limit. A couple of the guys still go to clubs but mainly big events.

The Hoochie Coochie in Newcastle is brilliant. A bit distant as we are in North Yorks but worth the trip. The Wardrobe in Leeds occasionally has some decent bands as does the Brudenall. Off to see Tristan in Ambleside in June.

Mainly big events - last one was the Ritz reunion in Manchester on Easter Sunday. A Line up of Richard Searling, Colin Curtis, Ian Dewhurst Neil Rushton, Mike Stephens and Chris Box was too good to pass and lived up to expectations. A Pint of Madre in a paper cup passed the 6 quid mark, which I expected as the New Century Hall has been done up. In fact I don't think anything in town has escaped a Trowel and Cement at the minute there's that many high rise being built.

Mainly big events that coincide with holidays - Blackpool in January and June, Bridlington in June and Whitby in July. Will be attending Blackpool in September and venturing sarf for a Wimbledon Soul Club during the autumn. Lucky to have so much to choose from. Haven't tried any soul cruises yet, although there seems to be more of those than the Spanish Armada.
The Ritz revival session at the Blackpool summer festival is a highlight.
