Gayla James is from Florida and has a gospel singing background, performing with Kirk Franklin, Vickie Winans and more.
Her sound is contemporary gospel soul, with a slight southern flavour, but don't let that put you off!
There are several real soulful highlights on here, for me anyway.
For starters, how about this for a slice of mellow modern soulful gospel?

More of a funky vibe here.
This doesn't sound too shabby either.

She's been making music for a few years. Albums like 'Broken' from 2014 and 'Spiritual Intimacy' from 2018. The latter contains the superb track 'Everybody Needs Love'

ooh yes I particularly remember her for the track "If You Don't want To Go" from "Broken" back in 2011 (and reissued in 2014), which used the same backing track at the time which several other artists also used for their songs!

Yes, a really nice track, here it is.
There were some other really decent tracks on that album, like this one.
And she uses Cherrelle & Alex O'Neal's 'Saturday Love' here to good effect!
