I've heard Paul Clifford's SoulGuru shows playing Yacht Soul. I just thought... They used to call it 2-Step. Is there a (subtle) difference? "Yacht Soul" was "invented" by Paul Clifford to define tracks which are part Yacht and part Soul, where the emphasis is on the smooth arrangements and top musicians, and not on the guitars which are frequent in yacht Rock/AOR/Westcoast.... it's quite subtle... "2-Step" is different imho as these tracks are clearly Soul-derived with a slower beat and a prominent bass in most cases, personally I love this genre ! Tracks like Starvue "Body fusion", Natural Four 'Try love again", Crystal Clear "Stay with me", Josie james "Win your love" spring to mind... Lots of them were played at the Parkers events in Manchester.... Hi Thierryyes, invented being the operative term, didn’t really need to be invented though did it…🙄😁 so let’s start a Yacht-2-Step genre 🤷🏼♂️🕺🤪🏖🛥 really it’s just an AOR sound and overlaps with other genres such as soul, I mean what’s this, how is this not 2-step AOR (oh I’ve invented another genre) Cheers Sutty

In the worlds of Dougal Mcguire... "Its a bit sad Ted" It also does have a bit rock guitar in it so not sure where this fits into the universe of re-imagining new names for old genres. However the whole track is just lovely to my ears and the production is perfection. The ending just gets caught far too short leaving you wanting a bit more it.

possibly the most derivative west coast track I’ve ever heard, Jim Photoglo makes no attempt to cover up his love of Boz Scaggs Lowdown 😂 still a nice track tho 🏖🛥🍍

Recent discovery for me but this track by Dave Plaehn is great. Very Hall & Oates and that’s never a bad thing in my book.

Have to thank you for all the AOR mixes you sent me, loved them and they served as a good guide when I started buying this stuff. A favourite of mine, nice AOR/2step
