Might be a bit too blues based for some but Robert has a fabulous back catalogue behind him.

Another that may be a repost, but no problem as this lady possesses a great voice Barbara Lewis - How Can I Tell You Sorry to say Jack I only realised how good she was a few years ago - with names like Mike Terry and Ollie McGaughlin all over it, how i missed it whilst collecting I'll never know - 'Do I deserve it baby' and 'Just the way you are today' float my boat from this album as well

Don't know which i prefer but they're both proper soul music & Joe has a really gritty sound that suits this type of side

Nikita Germaine is a new name to me - the album 'sweet as it comes' was an impulse buy - but the opening track sounds ok

The Fritz Love is great, and I love that sax break. The C# Sharp sounds good, crackly pop and all. Sir John Roberts – just class!! You’re right, very Barry White sounding, so lush with those warm strings. Who is the female vocalist I wonder? Cameo certainly made several great ballads, one of my other favourites is ‘Don’t Be Lonely’ from their ‘Word Up’ LP in 1986. The Krush ‘Leading Lady’ tune, I might be imagining it but doesn’t the rhythm sound rather like B. Caldwell’s ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’? Bobby Glover – what a great groove and the vocals on the track are superb. Who says the ‘80s didn’t have much quality soul music?
