In relation to my digging question, it would be good to get directory of record shops together, since they are steadily dwindling. Perhaps you can add the places you go to the list.
We don’t have much in Oxford anymore.
Oxford: Riverman Records, Walton Street Truck Store, Cowley Road (small amount of second hand)

I realise that not everyone will be keen to give their secrets away but, how often do you go into your small local record shop and find that the stock hasn’t changed? This might help to increase their traffic and their turnover of stock so there could be more chance of you find something you want, or better still, didn’t know you wanted.

RPM - Highland Road, Southsea
(Overpriced for the condition, but you can find the odd bargain.)
Soundz - Albert Road, Southsea
(Fair Prices / and will be cheaper than most collector prices online good if you are a dealer, despite run by Mick (who often looks like a miserable sod, he is a top bloke and a good laugh, Julie is fair on deals chatty and if she has a record that's being asked for, she knows exactly where it is. The tea is often on for the regulars)
Nothing Ventured - Highland Road, Southsea
(Mix of new Dance music across the board and some collectables too, run by Alex who's a good chap)
Pie and Vinyl - Castle St, Southsea
(Not a lot in the way of Soul, but do have a few bits, all new stuff is more Rock, Indie orientated, worth it though for the Pie, mint peas and mash AND the tea is wonderful and staff are friendly.)
Reflex Palmerston Road, Southsea
(Overpriced Tat and severely marked up record store day merch, nuff said)
HMV - Commercial Road, Portsmouth
(Plenty of new vinyl and a fair selection of Jazz Soul World etc)
A Slice of Vinyl - Gosport
(Just across the road from the Portsmouth & Gosport Ferry) 5min across the water and 2 mins from there.
(A nice selection of all sorts no sections though on Genres, its mostly just A - Z. He is also doing a lot of the new stuff too, don't know the guy too well but seems cool, he was giving free 12" singles away the other day outside, I obliged to help and relieve him of some of those, of-course.)

Crazy Beat Records - have fond memories of my visits there and although they sell lots of items online the physical shop is still open for visitors to go digging for soul vinyl. www.crazybeat.co.uk/

Dave Raistricks Stars & Stripes shop on Drummond Road in Skegness. Be warned in advance though. If you're a fan of collectable 60's & 70's Rare Soul, Motown & similar you might be in there for several hours & you'll leave with considerably less cash than you walked in with LOL.

None in your neck of the woods Martin? For quite a lot of the summer that is my neck of the woods as we have a little holiday home a few miles along the coast. There's nothing worth mentioning around here in the Nuneaton area & even if there was I'd not mention it on here as that bloody Randle chap would clear it out LOL

On this subject there's a couple of books that may be of help. Garth Cartwright's "going for a song". There's a guide in the back to most of the shops round the UK that he's visited. It's not every shop in the UK and I listened to an interview he did about the book with Giles Peterson in which he said at the time of going to print all the shops listed were still open. How that stands after Covid I've no idea. The other is for the international traveller "Around the world in 80 record stores". My wife got me this just before we planned to go to Berlin and had we gone would have been pretty useful. There's sections on most major cities around the world.

We took another trip today and found a nice little record shop in Stratford upon Avon called SJ Records, worth a visit if you’re in the area.
