This is a two-fold thread. Firstly, who is your favourite cartoon character and why. Secondly apart from Josie and the Pussycats do you know any cartoons that play or have played soul records. I’ll be honest I can't think of many so I will be amazed if this gets more than a couple of responses. So gone astound me!!!
First part was Penelope Pitstop who always did it for me, what a fox it those skin tight outfits, no wonder Peter Pervie was always hanging around
Here's Josie's theme tune performed by Patrice Holloway

It's gotta be Quagmire from Family Guy for me and if Folk / Country music sounded lyrically like this compendium of songs, then I would be a fan of that genre of music too.

Well the only cartoon track I can think of is Sugar Sugar by The Archies and there'e no way I'm posting a link to that! Favourite cartoon character would be Yogi Bear - used to be able to do a passable impersonation

Petered, it doesn't have to be music, a favourite character would do & what is WRONG with the Archies? ??

I missed the first point about who is your favourite and why. I was thinking it was a very niche thread for soul music in cartoons, that part is too tricky for me. My favourite cartoon character? Well Heavens to Murgatroyd, it’s got to be the one and only Snagglepuss. Exit stage left, even!!!

On second thought my favourite has to be Top Cat. Used to entertain the kids with my impersonations!

I know it's not a cartoon but happy birthday bagpuss, see below clip from BBC pages
Bagpuss, the most magical, saggy, old, cloth cat in the whole wide world, is 50.
The children's show first aired on 12 February 1974 and featured its co-creator's daughter, Emily.

I'm very late to the party here but I won't apologise For me, back to the wonderful Wacky Races and it's just got to me Muttley, for that laugh!
It would have been Penelope Pitstop, one of my first boyhood crushes, but Jack, you got there first!

For years I thought I was going mad and had imagined a cartoon on TV from the 70s called Astro Nut...... absolutely nobody had heard of it.
And then youtube came along - and it was exactly as I had remembered it.
